Ok…this was actually quite humorous when Tony Morrell initially read/translated this for Dave. Addiction Tattoo magazine hails from Argentina, and is published in Spanish. Dave doesn't speak Spanish...it read more like "He was known for his influential work published in Tattoo magazines way back in the 90's…now he is washed up and is a has-been…" but Dave thinks he was playing a little joke on him…in any case, here is how it reads when translated through the AltaVista Babel Fish translation website. It's up to you to decide…

:Addiction Tattoo: Dave is tatuador very influential of decada of 90's with the culture custom and the traditional tattoo. He is habitual to see his works and collaborations in the American magazines of epoca. In this opportunity, and exclusive right for Addiction, it shows his evolutiÕn and aceraca concept of the tattoo and its m?sica to us.

How many years tenés, from where sos and does whatever that tatuás?

Dave Waugh: I have 38 just fulfilled and I tattoo since I am more or less 12 years old.

AT: When you began to tattoo and how it was?

DW: I began in the business of the tattoo in 1991, when the "new revolution" of the tattoo was just beginning. It was at the moment at which artists like Guy Aitchison, Eddy Deutche and Philip Leu began to acquire fame. This granted a new popularity to him to the tattoo, as the conventions happened more with and more frequency. Later I joined myself with the second generation of this type of pibes, and all together ones we helped to that a new "scene" begins. I had the luck to enter the world of the tattoo at the indicated moment.

AT:What is what it differentiates to you from the other tatuadores?

DW: The truth is that not... I have my own style. I like to call it "without style". Only treatment to make each tattoo of the best possible form, and treatment to create the greater amount of styles. Work in the premises that also are in a street very journeyed and I have many clients who always come, so I must be armed of a great variety of styles to be able to please to all.

AT: What type of tattoos you like to do?

DW: I like to make tattoos great as well as I like to make simple and small tattoos. Greatest they allow to remove my artistic side afloat me and they allow me to shine to me, smallest also mean much for me, but of different way. The smallest tattoos provide to the client the same allowance to him that greatest and are much more easy to do! I believe that what more I enjoy is to see the expressions of happiness in the face of the clients once I finish doing the tattoo to them. Great or small, the size does not matter

AT: With who you work in the study? That many incredible artists work with contanos vos... on them and like is that they got to meet.

DW: Here in Jinx Prof, (www.jinxprooftattoos.com) we opened 7 days to the week, so we have a complete staff of great artists. Each one specializes in something, and to work together is brilliant. Eric Doyle knows much of Japanese and American traditional tattoos, also their wife Susan Behney. Both they come from the zone of Texas, where the tattoo already has much history. Grant Cobb is a fantastic artist with regard to pictures and he always helps me when I have some doubt on some painting technique. To Tony Morrell it enchants the style to him of the Japanese traditional tattoo, and it helped several times me to make designs for sleeves or to cause that the body of a dragoon is perfect. If sometimes I have some doubt on like facing certain drawing or technique, or on how shading of some form in special, I always have somebody can help me. We helped ourselves mutually all along; it is an atmosphere of spectacular work.

AT: Tenés some new collection of flashes? You continue designing covers for CDs? You follow signs in the wave "hot rod"?

DW: I am not designing any flash in many years, simply because at the present time there is much to disposition of people. The market is saturated, but equal it is good that different people say to me that they saw my hung old flashes in the different premises from all the country. I was trying to make more covers of CDs amuses much to Me to do it! Recently I finished my first cover of a disc Not of a small CD, but the cover of a great vinyl disc! He is impressive... is something that always I wanted to do since he was small, that my art is in the cover of a disc really. No longer I tan much in the wave "hot rod", but I say to you, I am enamored with new the Ford Mustang of the 2005... Its style is looked as much like the one of the cars of the 70!

AT: You attend conventions? You went to Europe? Contanos on Japan....

DW: No, no longer I go more to conventions. As I said before, the saturated market this of flashes, conventions, etc. Mainly in the United States, and no longer it seems to me amused to go. I believe that the circuit of the conventions arrived at its maximum point and began to back down to half-full or aims of the 90. I went to some conventions in Europe and also I was often of tour with my band Ironboss Europe is incredible! What yes, they smoke much cigarette... jaja.

AT: Which is the difference with the United States?

DW: I believe that the United States is "commercial more". Here it is spoken much of the tattoo, is very common. Sometimes, they come clients and they bring different magazines from tattoo and single they want that it copies the drawing of there. In Europe, it seems to have more life, he is more exciting. But it makes enough that I do not go to Europe, so not as it is the thing now.

AT: How it influenced Japan in your way to tattoo?

DW: Japan removes the head to you. I learned and I absorbed much; I could have had left to months and months. I feel that only I saw the surface of a surprising culture, a culture with which dream since I am small. I always wanted to go to Japan, I collect Japanese toys from my childhood.... So it was as a dream made reality. And if, the tattoos are also won... jaja.! There were so many pretty places to go; it would take all a life to me describírselos.

AT: Who tattooed to you? Contanos of your tattoos in the hand...

DW: I probably have a collection of tattoos won of some incredible artists of 50 artists. I have 80% of my tattooed body, are many in the list. The tattoos in my hand are within my favorites, because for my they represent my experience in Japan. They were done by ton in Chopstick Tatoo in Osaka. Before I never wanted to tattoo the hand, but that trip hit so much to me, that I wanted that something important remembers the trip to me for always. And what better place to tattoo that the hand, that you see it all along?

AT: To that tatuador admirás more?

DW: Scott Sylvia, Aaron Cain, Marcus Pacheco, Chris Trevino, Chris Garver, Mike Wilson, Jef Whitehead, Grime, Guy Aitchison, Eddy Deutche, Philip Leu, Chris Conn are some between so many.

AT: How you see the tattoos in 20 years? What is the latest that surprised to you of the tattoos?

DW: I hope that the tattoos continue being as popular as they are it now, but sabés what I feel? I feel that I want to return back, to the "clandestine thing". Sometimes I feel that it is demasiando accepted and that is very common. Some clients tattoo as if to tattoo something of every day went, like cutting the hair. People no longer see the tattoo like something "illegal", because all almost have some tattoo. Before, people tattooed to be different sos Now different if not tenés no tattoo! But.me would not have to complain me... enchants to make tattoos and thanks to them payment my rents for 12 years! Sometimes I do not see it like a work really, because so it is amused and it gave much freedom me in my life. I am surprised day day with the appearance of new tatuadores sometimes is so difficult to be in everything!

AT: As it is a day of your life?

DW: With much work sometimes... I have a beautiful fiancèe who is called Dyne, with that enchants to me to spend time, a brilliant son who is called David that soon withdraws of the secondary one. Work in Jinx Prof few days to the week, but work 10 hours per day.

AT: When nonwork, treatment to do something of art in house generally... - Contanos on your band......

DW: .y if, also is the band, that occupies the rest of my free time. We tried to try at least once to the week, and the week ends we do shows. All we have a occupied life. But for more time I have been touching the low one in Ironboss of which I dedicate myself to the tattoo (16 years) and I am never going it to leave. We amused so much, and I traveled many thanks to the band; I enjoy much music like leaving it someday. Enter the page www.ironboss.com and you buy some of our CDs jaja...

AT: Considerás the possibility of coming to South America?

DW: It would enchant to me, because that one of the places that never before I visited. But not when... Perhaps Ironboss touches soon? To touch in a band and to make tattoos to gain the life are the best thing, because I can make the two things at the same time, and it helps to pay the trip me! I must plan something soon...
