Dave had moved on to another shop, his current home base of Jinx Proof Tattoos in DC. He wanted to do another article to announce this move, and since he had just met the legendary king of hot rods (and major artistic influence) Ed "Big Daddy" Roth, what better magazine to do this in than Gearhead? He also hasn't heard from writer Mike LaVella since.

JINX PROOF - DAVE WAUGH - WASHINGTON DC

By Mike LaVella

To look at Dave Waugh's superior tattoo work, it's hard to believe that he's only been at it for 8 short years. Before starting at Jinx Proof in the summer of '98, Dave worked for Little Vinnie, but he didn't go into much detail about that era, so I let it go. Jinx Proof owners Karl Hedgepath and Tim Courn, both originally from the East Coast, had been working in San Francisco when they decided to move back and open a shop. Since Dave has tattooed both of them years earlier, they knew they wanted him there, but he couldn't commit for a year or so. "Finally, they wooed me with strippers and limos," Dave told Gearhead, "so I couldn't say no."

This man is one busy artist. Besides tattooing, he also sells flash and designs record and CD covers for bands. He also manages to find the time to play bass in Ironboss, the popular and somewhat scary Baltimore hard rock group. In an exclusive statement straight from our nations capitol, Dave explains "Everybody's getting tattoos now, which is good because eventually the people that are running the country will be tattooed, and the world will be a more open-minded place." We can only hope so, but in the meantime, you can write or call for a free catalog of Dave's flash and other stuff. As far as hot rod tats go, he is pretty much the man.
